Welcome to the Sims 3 Blog

Welcome fellow fans of The Sims! I have been playing The Sims since about the first month that the original The Sims was released by Maxis in the United Kingdom. I can remember reading the back of the box in the store and thinking that it sounded good but that I probably wouldn’t really like it all that much since I wasn’t really a ‘gamer’.

I went home, installed The Sims, started playing and the next thing I knew it was daylight and I hadn’t moved from my chair. That was my first hint that The Sims was going to be the ultimate time suck game for me. I thought that it couldn’t get any better for me with games than playing The Sims.

That was, however, until they released The Sims 2. I actually upgraded my computer, despite not really being able to afford it at the time, just so that I could play The Sims 2. Yes, that is a sad thing for grown woman to admit but I don’t have many vices and I could certainly have worse ones! What I really loved about The Sims 2 when I got it was the addition of an actual life span. These days, it is actually fairly hard to remember back to when the Sims in your game didn’t progress past adulthood and just lived forever unless they met a violent death or caught a really bad case of guinea pig flu.

Now, like so many fans of The Sims games from Maxis, I am waiting eagerly for the next installment to The Sims saga – The Sims 3! I have actually stopped myself playing The Sims 2 until the release date of The Sims 3. I want to be in in the space of *really* needing a Sims fix so that I can sink into the world of The Sims 3 and enjoy the freshness of the game.

There is still so much time to kill before The Sims 3 release date. So, I thought that between now and then I would spend time reporting back on the things that I have learned so far about what will feature in The Sims 3. I am sure, as always happens when video games are released, not everything that we are told in The Sims 3 trailers will actually be included in the first release but that doesn’t mean it isn’t interesting to guess!

So, welcome to The Sims 3 Blog and feel free to comment and share your own thoughts. I will just say that I am not a teenager (I am in my 30s) and so I am going to be approaching the Sims 3 Blog from the perspective of an adult. However, I am aware that that there will be some under 18′s reading about The Sims 3. So, if you comment please keep a family friendly tone.
